Are you looking for a new career that allows you to increase your income and enjoy a quality life for you and your family?
Do you feel passionate about meeting new people and also want to earn a decent living from it?
Well, if you answered yes to all or mostly all of these questions, then the best alternative for you is commercial driving (CDL)
Commercial driving is one of the most growing industries in America, actually, it’s the 5th fastest growing industry in the nation.
Why is that?
To answer this, just take a minute an imagine all the freight and people who need to be transported from one place to another.
Think about the school buses or public transportation, also at the shopping mall all of those buses that take customers from one point to another on the parking lot.
Don’t forget about the companies with special transportations services for their employees.
Well, all those chauffeurs are included in the CDL industry, making this profession essential to the American economy.
However, not everyone can enter this industry easily.
In order for drivers to be able to operate commercial motor vehicles in the United States, they must have a Commercial Driver’s License or also known as CDL.
The CDL ensures chauffeurs are well trained and qualified enough to drive high capacity commercial vehicles, including not only high-volume vehicles but also vehicles with more than 8 passengers including the driver.
A higher level of knowledge, experience, skills, and physical abilities are requires to operate these type of motor vehicles than to drive a non-commercial vehicle.
Commercial driving is becoming every day more demanded.
In fact, the Occupational Outlook Handbook published by the U.S. Department of Labor reports that the overall employment of bus drivers is projected to grow 6 percent from 2016 to 2026, about as fast as the average for all occupations.
Job opportunities for bus drivers should be very good, that means that opportunities should be favorable for individuals interested in commercial driving.
Also, in the stats of the U.S Department of Labor show that the median annual wage for bus drivers, school or special client was $32,420 in May 2018 and for bus drivers, transit and intercity was $42,080 in the same period of time.
How to get a CDL?
The CDL is issued by Department of Transportation (DoT). The rules and regulations for obtaining a CDL vary from state to state, however, to get a CDL there are certain basic requirements that an applicant must full fill.

- Qualify a vision test, physical examination, and drug test.
